Eureka Sleeping Bag
One of the items in our kit that will be an invaluable resource to you in a cold environment is the Eureka sleeping bag. This bag is rated down to 0 degrees F which means you should be able to stay comfortable in it even if the temp is zero outside. While this is slick marketing on the part of the sleeping bag companies, you should note that not all bodies are the same. I have actually used this bag in weather, but nothing near 0 degrees, yet.
Telling people about sleeping bags on camera is not real exciting I must admit, so I try to add a little humor. All sleeping bags are mostly the same, right? This is true, but please take the time to watch the video, because I try to point out the things that I particularly like about this bag. The things I am pointing out are the things that I have discovered over 40 years of sleeping outside…….alot, will prove to be beneficial to you about this bag.
I cannot say enough about what seem like small things, but are actually big things. A strong zipper, a hood that will cinch around you, a headliner that wicks moisture, etc. These seemingly insignificant features make this bag one that you can use and practice with for a very long while. I have two of them now and we love them.
Until next time, I hope to see you on, or off, the trail!

Interesting how much of a big difference small things make in keeping you comfortable in bad weather. Worth noting that many bags are missing these features. Not that the kid’s Spongebob sleeping bag won’t be any good, but certainly will leave much wanting. Thanks for the tips.
Ha! Could you imagine a hiking trip with a Spongebob bag!?! There certainly is a difference. One is for a kids sleepover inside a house. The other will keep you warm outside in bad weather. If you want survival gear for hunting, hiking, camping or survival preparedness, take some tips from Craig. Get a real bag!
Thanks for the article! Looks like a great sleeping bag, I need to invest in a new sleeping bag. My current bag is kinda worn, certainly no good for surviving in bad weather, but it does the job.
Cheers!
Thanks for the video about the sleeping bag. I’ll admit, I was skeptical when you said you didn’t have to roll up the sleeping bag to get it to fit bag in the storage bag. Glad you proved that on video! One question…. is it comfortable sleeping in a mummy-type bag?
edit – fit “back” in the storage bag
Thanks for sharing this. Definitely gonna get one. All my sleeping bags cannot handle zero temp giving me back pains every time I’m on a trip. Thumbs up to this!
